Migration and Asylum Expert, her fields of interest include external and internal dimensions of the EU’s migration and asylum policies and forced migrations triggered by protracted humanitarian crises, weak governance and under-development.
Ph.D. in Development Geography, graduated with mention in Political Science, she has more than ten years of progressive professional experience in academic research, policy-oriented analysis, and interventions’ planning and management in the field of vulnerable migrant groups (such as unaccompanied migrant children and THB victims) and related protection and reception issues. Her experience includes current service in the European Asylum Support Office (EASO), and previous service in International Organizations (Osce, FAO), NGOs (Save the Children, CIES and others), Universities (Sapienza University of Rome, Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies, Loughborough University),Think Tanks (The Hague Institute for Global Justice, Foundation for European Progressive Studies, FIERI), and Governmental Institutions (Ministry of Labor and Social Policy-DG Migration and Integration Policies).
Research Associate for the Unesco Chair in Population, Migration and Development (Rome Chapter), as a contract or invited lecturer she has taught Crisis Prevention & Management, Geopolitics and Analysis of Migratory Flows. In 2014, thanks to a grant awarded by the EU- ISCH COST Action IS1101- Climate Change and Migration, she was visiting researcher at the Hague Institute for Global Justice. In 2005, thanks to a grant awarded by the Italian MoFA she visited the University of Ljubljana.
In 2013 she was enrolled in the database of successful candidates from which to recruit research contract staff in Human and Social Science selected by the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. She has extensive experience in field research and in analyzing complex political and social settings, using qualitative research methodology. Among her recent publications: “Ethno-cultural diversity and the limits of the inclusive nation, Identities, 1-19 (2018 with M. Antonsich)”.
